Presented as a love letter to her daughter, this is the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life during five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria. With a camera in her hand, she captures when she falls in love, gets married, and gives birth to Sama – all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her. (Syria, 2019). Directed by Waad Al-Kateab and Edward Watts, the film will be introduced by Douja Mamelouk, associate professor of Arabic and French. The Global Voices Film Series is sponsored by the Departments of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures; Communication & Film Studies; and Global Affairs. All movies will be are screened at 7 p.m. in room 244 of Reilly Hall.
