Veterans, Reserve and Guard members, active duty service members, and military families... Welcome!

Military Education Benefits & Financial Aid

Using VA benefits or TA? Here's some info.

Tuition Assistance: Active Duty, Reserves, or National Guard? You may be eligible for Tuition Assistance (TA) through the Department of Defense. First, contact your Educational Services Officer (ESO). Your ESO and your military branch will need to approve your course of study BEFORE classes begin. You can contact vetinfo@lemoyne.edu if you have questions that are appropriate for Le Moyne to answer. If you are planning to use TA, Le Moyne asks you to fill out a secure certification request; you must be logged in to your Le Moyne account to access it. We will file necessary information with your branch of service. New rules state that those students who are eligible for both TA and some benefits from Veterans Affairs (VA) may be able to use benefits concurrently. If you need to withdraw after classes begin, you can see our refund policy (for TA and other funding) here.

Veterans Affairs Benefits: If believe you are eligible for benefits through Veterans Affairs (VA), start at va.gov. You can apply for benefits there; when you get a Certificate of Eligibilty or a Notification of Basic Eligibility, please supply that in person or at vetinfo@lemoyne.edu.  VA benefits include Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation and Education), Chapter 33 (GI Bill®), and Chapter 35 (Dependents Educational Assistance). If you are eligible for the Yellow Ribbon Program, your tuition and fees are covered for as long as your eligibility lasts! In addition to applying for VA benefits, we ask you to fill out a brief certification request to activate those benefits at Le Moyne. This is a secure online form; you will need to be logged in to your Le Moyne account to access it. We will also work with the Bursar's office to ensure that, should we be waiting for VA benefits to be applied to you account, you will not incur late fees on the amount anticipated to be covered by VA.

Financial Aid: Military benefits, especially Chapter 33 VA benefits, may impact your Financial Aid (FA). However, regardless of what benefits you're using, you can still be eligible for various types of FA. Veterans and Military Services and the Financial Aid office will work together to make sure you make the most of all the aid available to you and understand how FA, TA, and/or VA benefits will impact the cost of attendance. If admitted, you'll get a detailed Isakson & Roe-compliant "shopping sheet." Note: to be considered for need-based FA, you must complete a FAFSA! Merit-based Financial Aid may be awarded with or without completion of the FAFSA. The FAFSA is also required for PELL, TAP, and government-subsidised loans.

We’re grateful for our veterans. While the G.I. Bill® and Yellow Ribbon Program provide excellent resources, we know that our veterans deserve more. Our Veterans House provides a caring and supportive community, creating a space for veterans to take a pause and get acclimated to academic life. As the designated site for gatherings, club meetings, and study sessions, the house is more than just a building—it’s an essential part of the Le Moyne campus.
