Why did you choose Le Moyne?
Le Moyne is a great school not only for its academics but for its fantastic community as well. When I was still searching for colleges, community was a big part of what I was looking for. I wanted a school where you could feel at home and both the teachers and your fellow students could become your friends and allies. I found this at Le Moyne. You get to meet a lot of people through many different activities and events that help to make the campus feel close knit. Just walking around campus you see people greeting each other and holding the door open for others. It is also very evident that the professors and staff want to help you succeed! Since coming to Le Moyne I have been able to come out of my shell and explore many interests and aspects of myself that I had not been able to before.

Fun Fact:
I am a huge geek and am into music, art, and have had an on-going Dungeons and Dragons group for the past few years.

What has been your favorite course so far and why?
My favorite class has been my COR: 100 course, entitled Bloodthirsty Revenge and Heroic Compassion in Ancient Greece and Beyond with Dr. Deborah Cromley. This class focused on Greek classics such as The Iliad. Dr. Cromley was absolutely phenomenal and there was such rich discussion in the class

DaVaughn Berry

Major: English Literature (pursue a Masters in Teaching Certificate Gr. 1-6)
Minor: Ethics, Values, & Professional Life
Graduation Year: 2023
Hometown: Saratoga Springs, NY
Position: Tour Guide

What has been your favorite course so far and why?
My favorite course thus far in my college career has been Theology in a secular world. This course offered a look into the world of science and religion. We also looked at our place and purpose on earth and how we are entangled within the cosmos. This course opened my eyes to secularism and religion because we pondered some of the big "questions" (life after death, happiness, our consciousness etc...) Because of what this course had to offer it instilled in me that it is ok to ask the big questions because those types of questions drive our curiosity.

I ran track in high school and I am on the Executive board of the Le Moyne Student Programming Board.

How have your grown since becoming part of the Phin Family?
Being a part of the Phin family has helped me become more mature, independent, responsible and reliable. I have learned so many valuable life lessons from the Phins around that are beneficial not only to my career, but to my development as a person. The Phin family also has rejuvenated my faith in God, and helped me grow closer to Him by the day. Being around people like the students and faculty of Le Moyne gives you opportunities to challenge yourself to look at things from a different perspective, something that is crucial to the development of a sound mind. And I urge you to do the same: take these challenges head on, because sometimes; you strike gold in the most unexpected places! God Bless

Why did you choose Le Moyne?
I chose Le Moyne because I wanted to have the "college experience" and have a place to call my second home, away from home. When touring Le Moyne, both on my own and on Accepted Students Day, Le Moyne greatly gave off this energy. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! I instantly saw myself at Le Moyne for the next four years.

Position: Tour Guide

Why did you choose Le Moyne?
I chose Le Moyne for several reasons! First and foremost, from the moment I stepped foot on campus I felt that I was truly at home. Being that I have attended catholic school since the age of three, continuing my catholic education was very important to me, and at Le Moyne I am able to immerse myself in my faith and in the Jesuit tradition of Le Moyne. The sense of community at Le Moyne was so evident in every online and in person event, leading me to my home away from home!
Fun Fact
I’m a distant cousin of Bruce Springsteen!
