A recent article that ran in The Tablet, an international Catholic news weekly, about the creation of a new department of culture and education, mentioned President Linda LeMura in a discussion of possible candidates to head the department.
The article includes this passage: “Another talent pool of potential leaders can be found among the increasing number of women have been appointed to lead Jesuit Catholic universities. The first of these was Dr. Linda LeMura who has been President of Le Moyne College in Syracuse, in New York State since 2014. Born to Italian immigrant parents, the 62-year-old scientist has had a distinguished career in the Higher Education Sector.”
“I have not been approached about the position. I am deeply gratified by this mention and the fact that it reflects highly on Le Moyne’s growing involvement and influence within Jesuit education and among other prestigious institutions,” said President LeMura. One example is the College’s role in the establishment and launching of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU). LeMura was one of 12 members of the IAJU’s inaugural board.
