Humans of Le Moyne: Brianne Hegelein

Brianne Hegelein had a busy summer in 2019. The Human Resources / Management & Leadership Dual Major worked in an internship (her sixth overall) which allowed her to apply all she has learned during her time here on the Heights. This resulted in her planning and implementing Tompkins Career Closet, which offered professional clothing at low or no cost to those who might not be able to access such essentials for daily work. In addition to this, she is serving as President of Ascent HR, Le Moyne College's Human Resources Club, taking classes which add to her professional toolbox, and accessing opportunities to intern in a variety of placements. She feels, “more confident in my field of study. My internships have taught me independence, networking, time management, and an overall knowledge of the field of Human Resources.” With all this, after her May, 2020 graduation she hopes to build a career within the field of Human Resources.⁣

As far as her perspective on how Le Moyne helped shape her experience, Brianne says, “During my time at Le Moyne College I was able to meet many individuals who have helped me be successful within my field of study. One of my proudest moments was becoming President of Ascent HR, the Le Moyne College Human Resources Club. It has taught me leadership, networking, and effective communication. I am grateful for the network have built for myself and the people who have made my experience so rewarding.”⁣

As far as advice for fellow Phins: “Network. Don't be afraid to reach out to alumni, professors, friends of friends, etc. You never know who may help you land an internship or full-time job after graduation. Also, say "Yes". The sooner you can begin internships, the better off you will be. Seek and take opportunities. See every opportunity presented to you as a learning opportunity. So don't say no, say "yes!"”
