Humans of Le Moyne: Briana Cool

Briana Cool has a name to live up to, and she does. With plans to graduate in 2020 with a BA in Political Science (Pre-Law concentration) and minors in Legal Studies, Advanced Writing, and Literature, Briana has been very busy during her time on campus and off. In the 2019 Spring Semester, she was selected to work in the New York State Assembly as an intern. This program has allowed her to explore deeply the legislative process and how her major and multiple minors have supported her immersion into the political arena. While she wants to be a medical malpractice lawyer once she graduates law school, this experience has helped her shape future plans. As she says: "I am so much more confident in myself and what I want to do when I graduate. I think I have really found myself at Le Moyne and I'm starting to understand that I am going to law school and I will become a lawyer. Before Le Moyne, I was really shy and didn't have the confidence in myself to know this."

Briana continues to pursue opportunities which will help her determine future goals. Whatever she chooses, her experiences on and off campus have helped. From working at the New York State Assembly to being a member of the Manresa program, Briana is exploring what lies ahead. She appreciates “the opportunities I get to be a part of. I also love how the entire Le Moyne community cares about you as a person and wants to see you succeed.” And this support has made her self-confidence grow over the last few years. Her time at Le Moyne supported her thinking she could be a lawyer who serves others.

Her advice for fellow ‘Phins: Don't be afraid to grow and to branch out and do things that make you uncomfortable! There are people at Le Moyne who want you to succeed and will help you do that. Take advantage! Four years goes by much faster than you think, enjoy every second of it."
