Chenicia Cummings '25: Inspire Hope in Others

Chenicia Cummings ’25 of Brooklyn, N.Y., is a communications major. Chenicia is also one the many Le Moyne students who are among the first members of their families to attend college. We are proud to share some of their stories.

Why did you choose Le Moyne?

“I chose Le Moyne because of the Higher Education Opportunity Program.”

How do you hope to grow and change over your time at Le Moyne?

“I hope that I learn more about myself while I’m here.”

What are your plans for the future, and how do you define success, both personally and professionally?

“After graduation, my plan is to attend graduate school and upon completion enter the public relations field. Success, in my view, is accepting the good and the bad along your journey without giving up.”

What do you hope your impact on the world to be?

“I hope I inspire others to have hope even when it looks like there isn’t any.”

What has been the biggest surprise of your college experience so far?

“I would say my biggest surprise is how much time flies.”

What is your favorite place on campus?

“I would say my favorite place would be the Higher Education Opportunity Program office.”

How have you been involved at Le Moyne outside of coursework (i.e., clubs or organizations, internships, research)?

“I was a part of the Manresa Program.”

What piece of advice do you have for future Le Moyne students?

“There will be times when you feel like giving up and it is important to have at least one person you can go to when this happens.”
