A Supporting Community Like No Other

Corey Fischer knows well how important discipline, hard work and having the support of others contributes to success – whether in the military or as an accounting student at Le Moyne.

An active duty Marine from 2011 to 2016, Fischer was based in the Pacific for much of his time in the military. Once he left the service, he attended Cayuga Community College before transferring to Le Moyne in spring 2019.

“I decided to transfer to Le Moyne because it is known as one of the best accounting programs in New York state as well as being very supportive and friendly towards veterans,” said Fischer, who is originally from Union Springs, N.Y.

Once at Le Moyne, that reputation for support was reinforced. “The atmosphere here is unlike any other college with students, faculty and alumni always looking after each other.” He puts that concept in practice by serving as a tutor for others in the accounting program.

He’s currently working towards getting his BS/MBA (which requires 150 credit hours) and becoming CPA-certified while working for various accounting firms in the Syracuse area, with an anticipated graduation date of May 2021.

“The College is well recognized and respected in the business world and having a degree from Le Moyne will help me excel in my career path,” he said. “If you choose to come here the opportunities you open up for your future are endless!”
