Faculty Research Spotlight: Dr. Shinjeng Lin

Dr. Shinjeng Lin is intellectually curious about the relationships and the interactions between humans and technologies. As a result, he conducts research to satisfy this curiosity. Dr. Lin is genuinely interested in advancing the knowledge of how humans interact with technologies effectively and efficiently to achieve their goals. Dr. Lin’s research often stems from cognitive and behavioral perspectives. He tends to look at three streams of behavior: adoption of innovative technologies, e-learning, and online consumer behavior.

Examining the adoption of innovative technologies, Dr. Lin and his research colleagues have published journal papers considering the factors contributing to the adoption of e-commerce, podcasting, and massive open online courses (MOOCs). Lately, they have shifted their attention to the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, developing an AI anxiety scale and conducting cross-cultural validation of their scale.

To examine questions of e-learning, Dr. Lin and his research colleagues have been concentrating on mobile learning and digital entrepreneurship education. They have published journal papers measuring students’ readiness for mobile learning, and the factors predicting students’ interests in digital entrepreneurship and how such interests are facilitated by digital entrepreneurial education.

Questioning individuals' online consumer behavior, Dr. Lin and his research colleagues have published journal articles concerning the effects of online consumer reviews and product presentation modes on e-commerce websites, and the digital privacy paradox.
