One of Le Moyne’s Centers of Excellence, the Center for the Study of Environmental Change (CSEC) promotes educational, research and outreach activities on the Heights related to the environment and the effects of Earth’s changing climate.

In keeping with the Jesuit mission of Le Moyne, the Center advocates for a more just and sustainable society, climate change research and innovation in teaching.

Climate Change & Sustainability on the Heights

Le Moyne’s Center for the Study of Environmental Change supports innovative research and exceptional education in and out of the classroom.

Environmental Education

Le Moyne offers B.S. and B.A. programs to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the scientific foundations of environmental science as well as the mechanisms of society. Learn more about these programs that develop world-class scientific, social and cultural skills:

Environmental Research

The CSEC sponsors projects that add important new data to our understanding of how the global environment is changing in response to climate change. We have active study sites for measuring ecological changes due to climate change in Iceland, Costa Rica and the Le Moyne campus.

Environmental Lab

The environmental analysis labs at Le Moyne are equipped with a JEOL JSM-6510LV Scanning Electron Microscope, Bruker D-2 Phaser X-ray diffractometer and LECO TruSpec C/N. The NSF has provided financial support for some of these facilities and activities.

I know that in the future, I want to focus my professional energies on caring for the environment and ensuring that we all have a safe place to live. I feel like my internship with the New York State Department of Environmental Protection was a good stepping stone toward that goal.”
