Aaron Abma, Ph.D.

Aaron Abma is interested in theories of goodness or value and their ethical and metaphysical implications.  He is especially interested in two competing views.  According to the first, value just is benefit; things are good only if and because they are good for someone.  According to the second, some things are valuable independently of being good for anyone; they are simply worthy of love.  Much of his work is devoted to arbitrating between these two views and defending and developing the second.
