Caryn Patterson has been active in the Syracuse community as both a music educator and singer/instrumentalist for more than 35 years. As choral director at Cicero-North Syracuse High School (CNS), her vocal groups (both choral and vocal jazz) were consistently recognized as having achieved the highest level of performance. Caryn has also worked as musical director at both Cicero-North Syracuse High School and in the community with Theatre 90, and was active as an actor/singer in countless productions in and around the Syracuse area. Caryn, and the rest of the creative team at CNS were recently recognized by the New York State Board of Superintendents as “Champions of Change,” an unsolicited award bestowed in recognition of the unique musical theater program they have developed and their work during the pandemic to continue theater education while supporting students’ mental health. Past productions have been recognized by both the Syracuse Area Local Theater for Youth and Syracuse High School Theater Arts Awards for outstanding productions. She is currently the choral director of Le Moyne College Singers and founder/artistic director of Test Kitchen, a vocal jazz group which performs her original vocal jazz arrangements and compositions. The group released their first studio recording Wings of Dreams in 2022 and is currently at work on their second album.
