Heather Holcomb, Ph.D.

Dr. Holcomb is a NYS Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 17 years of professional experience, including 12 years with her own practice. Her experience includes audit, tax, outsourced CFO services and various consulting services for a variety of industries including service, manufacturing, franchises, restaurants and non-profits. Holcomb began teaching various undergraduate and graduate courses full-time over 10 years ago. In 2020, she graduated from the University of Scranton as part of the first cohort of students in the Ph.d Accounting program. She has published in Issues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Forensic Accounting Research and Internal Auditing. Her dissertation won the 2023 Timothy Pearson Best Dissertation Award from the American Accounting Association (AAA) Forensic Section. Dr. Holcomb’s research interests include auditor judgment, fraud risk assessment, data analytics and accounting education. She lives in Baldwinsville with her husband, their combined five children and her black lab mix, Odin. She enjoys being active outdoors, gardening, music and teaching women’s self-defense.
