Matt Chiorini

Professor Chiorini teaches courses in acting, directing, devising, and Shakespeare, among others. Matt has directed or performed in productions of the Central NY Shakespeare Co., Redhouse Arts Center, Tennessee Repertory Theatre, People’s Branch Theatre, The Nashville Shakespeare Festival, American Stage Theatre Company, Riverside Theatre, as well as serving as the artistic director of the Repertory Theatre at Sea program for Crystal Cruises, People’s Branch Theatre in Nashville, and the Founding Artistic Director for the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre (a professional annual equity theatre festival profiled nationally in the New York Times).
Prior to his appointment at Le Moyne, Matt has taught at the University of Central Arkansas, Belmont University and the University of Northern Colorado.
Honors include: The Individual Artist Fellowship from the state of Tennessee; awards for Excellence in Direction and Sound Design from the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival (in both regions 1 and 6); the Syracuse Area Live Theatre awards; the 2013 “Best Shakespeare” award in Nashville; and the Jeff Norton Award for Outstanding Direction in the Tampa Bay area.
As a playwright, Matt has written, directed and produced original works at theatre festivals in Montreal; Toronto; Venice, Italy; New York, Washington, D.C. and Edinburgh, Scotland.
