Why an Environmental Studies Degree From Le Moyne?

Are you passionate about protecting wildlife and preserving the planet for future generations? Do you want to help businesses move toward more sustainable manufacturing practices? Maybe you’d like to inspire global change and create campaigns to raise awareness of the impact society has on nature.

In the undergraduate environmental studies program at Le Moyne, you’ll go beyond the green movement and gain an understanding of the scientific foundations of environmental science. You’ll develop the skills to advocate for natural and anthropogenic change and a more socially just world. Your degree may also take you to the actual tropical rainforests of Costa Rica, the Nordic countryside of Iceland or the Arizona desert.

Explore Global Ecosystems From the Heights

This multidisciplinary program incorporates ecology, geology, chemistry and physics as it introduces students to the economic, social and political pressures on the environment.

Environmental Studies Undergraduate Degrees

The B.S. degree in environmental studies provides the foundations for professional careers and graduate study. The B.A. is ideal if you plan to pair your major with another major or minor, such as communication and film studies, English, marketing or political science.

Environmental Studies Courses

You’ll study the global ecosystems, environmental economics, physical geology, the history of Earth, water resources and sustainability.

The Environmental Studies faculty research everything from ecology and biogeography to the effects from anthropogenic factors on wildlife to paleogeography of the late paleozoic and mesozoic world to freshwater green algae.

In Iceland, I just kind of figured out what my purpose in the world was, which was conservation filmmaking. Working for a company whose mission is closely aligned with my own is a reward in and of itself. Having the opportunity to inspire kids by helping show them the beauty of the world we get to call home is another honor that I would call success.”
