Why a Faith & Social Justice Degree from Le Moyne?

Are you concerned about immigration, political justice or food equity? Do you want to live in a world where everyone belongs? Are you inspired to tackle social issues head-on and use your gifts to drive positive change?

With Le Moyne’s undergraduate interdisciplinary minor in faith and social justice, you’ll explore the interconnection of faith and social justice in contemporary society. You’ll reflect deeply on all religions, Catholic and Jesuit thought and critical moral and social issues. You’ll also consider the ways in which you can personally take action and create a kinder and more just society for all.

Faith & Social Justice Is Rooted in the Jesuit Tradition

Pursue this minor and you’ll graduate with comparative analysis, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills that will set you apart from your peers no matter what industry you work in.

The Faith & Social Justice Minor

The faith & social justice minor complements many majors, including business, journalism, history, religious studies and political science. This 15-credit program includes requirements and electives in philosophy, religious studies, sociology and psychology. The major requires a total of five classes; Faith and the Roots of Social Justice and Faith that Does Justice are required. For the other three classes, students can choose from an approved list.

Religious Studies Degrees

If you are interested in the themes and topics of the faith & social justice minor, you might consider a degree in the religious studies department.

Religious Studies Courses

Pursuing this minor, you’ll have the option to study ecology and the environment, poverty, Catholic theology or the social justice legal system.

From interfaith work to cutting edge education pedagogies to Jesuits themselves, the Faith & Social Justice faculty provide wide ranging, open minded perspectives.

I chose Le Moyne college because of the sense of community! Everywhere you go someone always says “hey” to you and gives you a friendly smile! At first I was not sure what to expect moving 2.5 hours away from home but it is one of the best decisions I’ve made!”
