In our accelerated 4 + 1 forensic science degree program, you’ll earn an undergraduate degree in biology or chemistry from Le Moyne and a master’s degree from our partnership with the Forensics and National Security Sciences Institute at Syracuse University (SU). Research Meets Criminal Justice
With Le Moyne’s 4 + 1 forensic science degree program, you first choose to major in biology or chemistry to build the scientific undergraduate foundations for your advanced study in forensic science. Then, you head to SU for your master’s.
Biology Undergraduate Degree
In the biology program, you’ll investigate living beings and analyze scientific research. You’ll meet distinguished scholars, conduct research with faculty mentors and present your work at regional and national conferences. You’ll learn general biology, cell and molecular biology, chemical principles, genetics, toxicology and criminalistics.
Chemistry Undergraduate Degree
In the chemistry program, you’ll study organic, inorganic, physical and analytical chemistry and biochemistry. Courses include chemical systems, principles and theories, methods of analysis and scientific thought. You’ll also get hands-on experience in the lab and on advanced research projects.
Forensic Science (M.S.) From Syracuse University
Pairing your undergraduate degree with a M.S. in forensic science gives you many professional advantages. The program features specialized courses developed and taught by experts in the field, a growing number of institutional partnerships and internship opportunities. It’s in close proximity to the Onondaga County Wallie Howard Jr. Center for Forensic Sciences and has numerous relationships with local and federal forensic organizations.
The research interests of the Le Moyne biology faculty range from the genetic structure of animal populations to the molecular underpinnings of the aging process to the effects of anthropogenic factors.
