Why a Physical Therapy Degree From Le Moyne?

Do you love helping others? As a physical therapist, you’ll dedicate yourself to a lifetime of service in which you will make an important difference in others’ health and well-being. You’ll help people from all walks of life recover from injuries and illnesses and guide them in rebuilding their strength, coping with challenges and achieving new milestones. You’ll play a critical role in their journey to better health and improve their quality of life.

Le Moyne offers two degree pathway programs where you earn an undergraduate degree in a related major like biology, and then go on to earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) at University of Scranton or SUNY Upstate Medical University. Through these partnerships, you’ll enjoy the rewards of a meaningful calling as a human for others and achieve a doctoral degree at an accelerated pace.

From the Heights to a DPT Pathway

Take a look at the requirements for the two DPT pathway programs to find your fit. Note the differences in degree length, admission requirements and required major(s).

Physical Therapy 4+3 Degree Pathway with the University of Scranton

Through this highly competitive seven-year program, you can earn a bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry or a similar major at Le Moyne and be guaranteed admission into the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Scranton.

Physical Therapy 3+3 Degree Pathway with SUNY Upstate Medical University

This highly competitive program requires a bachelor’s degree in biology at Le Moyne, and allows you to complete both your undergraduate degree and DPT from the SUNY Upstate Medical University in six years.

Biology Courses

An undergraduate degree from the biology department means you’ll study general biology, cell and molecular biology, chemical principles and organic chemistry.

The biology faculty at Le Moyne bring a wide-range of research, teaching and lab experience into the classroom, setting you up for a successful transfer to a DPT program.

A Growing Field

The field of PT is projected to grow 14% (much faster than average) between 2021 and 2031 into the future. It also offers high-income potential: the median salary for physical therapists is $97,720, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

People really want you to succeed and people really care about you. There’s a real value in what the Jesuits teach, about Magis, about Cura Personalis. We want to do better, we’re not just settling for mediocrity.”
