Meet Our Team
Fr. Patrick Rogers, S.J.
Interim Director of Campus Ministry
A native of Annapolis, Maryland, Father Rogers is the youngest of eleven children and has a twin brother named Peter. He has been the Vice-President for Mission Integration at Le Moyne College since July 2022 and is also the Interim Director of Campus Ministry for the academic year 2024-2025. Prior to his moving to Syracuse, Fr. Rogers spent five years at The University of Scranton as the Executive Director of the Jesuit Center. Other mission assignments as a priest include being the Director of Campus Ministry (Main Campus) at Georgetown University and work as a parish priest at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Father Rogers entered the Society of Jesus in 1992 and was ordained a priest in 2002. Prior to entering the Society of Jesus, he was a professional musician and holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance (clarinet) from Towson University in Maryland. While at Towson he also played saxophone and flute for Jazz Great Hank Levy, one of the most innovative jazz composers and educators of the late 20th century. Levy’s composition “Whiplash” was a featured piece, and title track, of the academy award winning film of the same name. For five seasons Father Rogers sang tenor with the Baltimore Opera Chorus and was an instrumental music teacher for several different schools in the greater Baltimore Metropolitan area. He was also the Associate Music Director of the orchestra at Towson University from 1989 to 1991. In 1987 he helped found The Concordia Trio, a chamber music trio consisting of soprano, clarinet and piano. The Concordia Trio concertized widely on the East Coast between 1987 and 1992, regularly appearing in the most prestigious chamber music venues. As a Jesuit, Father Rogers earned a master’s degree in philosophy from Fordham University and a master’s degree in divinity from the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University. He earned his Doctor of Liberal Studies degree from Georgetown University, writing his thesis on the confluence of Germanic and Christian symbols in the Grimms’ Fairy Tales. From January 2017 until May of 2022, Fr. Rogers was the Executive Director of the Jesuit Center at The University of Scranton. In that role, Fr. Rogers oversaw Ignatian formation programs for Scranton’s faculty and staff and taught first-year writing courses along with courses in music history and Germanic mythology. He was also the faculty moderator of Scranton’s Women’s Tennis Team and Wrestling Team. Fr. Rogers joined the leadership team at Le Moyne College in July of 2022 as the Vice President of Mission Integration where he oversees faculty and staff formation programs as well as overseeing the work of the Office of Campus Ministry. He also oversees the innovative athletics formation program called “The Le Moyne Way.” This program, rooted in the Catholic and Jesuit traditions, is a whole-person approach to the formation of student athletes. He still loves to cheer on tennis players so is the faculty moderator of the women’s and men’s tennis teams here at Le Moyne. Father Rogers enjoys traveling and has spent a great deal of time in Central and South America and has visited every continent except Antarctica. When not working, Father Rogers enjoys participating in sports related activities and is an avid basketball and tennis player. He is still keen on making music but now tends to express his musical passion on a guitar.
