Policies & Student Information

Le Moyne College complies with the Academic Calendar approved by the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, with oversight from the Le Moyne College’s Calendar Committee and Registrar’s Office.

A student may be granted academic forgiveness only once via one of the following instances:

(1) Students who return to Le Moyne College after an absence of 10 consecutive years or more may apply to the Registrar for academic forgiveness in the semester they are re-admitted to the College. Eligible students will have their aged record adjusted so that all previous coursework completed at Le Moyne College will not be calculated into the student’s overall GPA. Furthermore, only courses with a grade of C- or better (not those with grades of D or F) will count for credit toward the degree program.

(2) A student who has changed majors may petition the Academic Dean for an academic reset with a forgiveness of one semester in the previous major degree program. Students must obtain a 2.5 GPA or higher in the first full semester of the new major prior to applying for academic forgiveness. If approved, all grades for the approved semester will remain on the transcript but will be removed from the calculation of student’s overall GPA – none will count towards graduation.

Academic Forgiveness for Student Athletes
For purposes of NCAA certification, a Student Athlete must meet applicable continuing eligibility requirements based on their academic record in existence at the outset of the application term. If a Student Athlete is awarded academic forgiveness in a given term, the cumulative credit hours, grade points, and GPA for that term must still be used to certify the student as an NCAA athlete for all progress towards degree and good academic standing requirements set forth by NCAA D1 legislation.

Once a student has graduated from Le Moyne College and a degree has been posted, no further change can be made to the academic record.

Students are expected to observe at all times the highest ethical standards as members of the academic community. Any form of dishonesty makes a student liable to severe sanctions, including expulsion from the College. For a detailed review of Le Moyne Colleges academic standards policy, please visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/general-information/academic/standards/

Academic Integrity Tutorial and Exam Requirement
All matriculated Le Moyne students must pass the Academic Integrity Tutorial and Exam during their first semester as matriculated students at Le Moyne. These students will be blocked from subsequent course registration until they have passed the exam. Please contact the Dean of Arts and Sciences for information about the exam.

Undergraduate students have one week from the start of the semester to add a course and two weeks from the start of the semester to drop a course. The official dates to add, drop, or withdraw from courses without academic penalty are posted on the Academic Calendar. A student who withdraws from a course after the last day to drop a course, according to the Academic Calendar, but before the end of the 12th week of the semester (or 80 percent of a Summer Session), will receive a grade of “W” on the academic record. Students must submit the appropriate paperwork to the Registrar’s Office or graduate office in order to add/drop or withdrawal from a course or all courses in a semester. For more information, visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/general-information/academic/add-drop-withdrawal/

Academic standing is a point-in-time calculation (at the end of each fall and spring semester) taking into account a student’s grades in the previous semester and his/her cumulative grade point average. Satisfactory academic standing (a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or better) is required for students to graduate and maintain most scholarships and financial aid. No student may graduate from the College in any degree program with a cumulative G.P.A. of less than 2.0. Recognizing that the transition from high school to college is sometimes difficult, the College has established minimum standards for our first-semester, first year students. For detailed information on Le Moyne College’s Academic Standing and related policies, please visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/undergraduate-information/degree/academic-standing/

The learning process takes many shapes. It can range from formal classroom instruction to one-on-one discussion to taking advantage of internships and research opportunities. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes and observe the attendance requirements of each instructor that are listed in the course syllabus. In the event that a student is unable to attend a class due to an illness, accident, family death or religious holiday, the individual should refer to the Policy on Student Absenteeism in the Event of Illness or AccidentPolicy on Reporting Absences Due to Death in a Student’s Family, and/or the Policy on the Observance of Religious Holidays as listed in the Le Moyne College Student Handbook.

A student who wishes to audit a course may do so with the approval of the course instructor and Department Chair.  Students who audit are generally exempt from assignments and examinations; however, requirements vary depending on the course and instructor expectations. Students will negotiate the performance expectations with each instructor prior to the end of the first week of classes.

Under no circumstances may a student make a course change from credit to audit after the last day to add as designated on the Academic Calendar. A grade of AUD is recorded on the transcript. No credit is given for the course.

Audit permission forms are available in the Registrar’s Office for matriculated students or you may click here. Once the form is completed matriculated students will be registered in the Registrar’s Office. Non-matriculated students will complete a registration form in the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) Office and be registered there.  Students indicate their top three or four course preferences, as some courses will be filled. The staff in the CCE will obtain permissions to audit.

Undergraduate students wishing to audit will be added to the course one week prior to the start of each term. Audits will not exceed a maximum of two courses per semester and one course in shortened alternate semesters (Summer, May and J-mester). Auditing students will be required to meet the prerequisites for all courses for which they register.

Effective July 1, 2023, Le Moyne College became the legal custodian of records for Cazenovia College following their permanent closure on June 30, 2023. Cazenovia College academic records are therefore sealed and no changes can be made. This includes, but is not limited to: grades, student status, name while attending, demographic information, etc.

Le Moyne College permits the use of only one graduate course towards the completion of an undergraduate certificate program. However, undergraduate credits cannot be used towards the completion of a graduate-level certificate program.

Certificates & Minors
Students cannot earn a certificate and minor in the same program (ex. Human Resource Management certificate and minor) regardless of the courses used to complete either the minor or certificate. More than half of the certificate or minor should be different from each other.

Graduate Certificates & Master’s Degree
If a graduate student has previously or is concurrently enrolled in a certificate program, only 6-credits/2 courses may be shared between each program.

Once a student is enrolled as a matriculated student in a Masters or Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) program, the student is not permitted to apply or receive a certification in the same field or discipline as the Master’s or CAS program/certificate.

Prior to submitting a Change of Major form to the Registrar’s Office, the student must consult the Department Chair of the new major for approval. The Department Chair is responsible for advising the student in courses required for the major as well as careers in the major field. Students must receive a Major G.P.A. of 2.0 in order to graduate. All declared majors are listed on the student’s transcript. For more information, visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/undergraduate-information/degree/

Le Moyne College offers students the opportunity to declare one or more minors to their degree programs. Please note that some majors require students to declare a minor. In order to graduate with a minor, the students must receive a G.P.A. of 2.0 in the required courses listed on their minor form. All declared minors are listed on the student’s transcript. For more information, visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/undergraduate-information/degree/

A currently enrolled student at Le Moyne College may submit the Change of Legal Name/Gender Form with appropriate notarized legal documentation to the Registrar’s Office to change a legal name. Students who have graduated must submit changes of name, gender, and/or marital status to the College’s Alumni Office.

Concurrent enrollment in degree programs at the Master’s, Certificate of Advanced Study, or Doctoral level must adhere to this policy.

NYSED stipulates that Master’s degree programs shall normally require a minimum of one academic year of full-time graduate level study, or its equivalent in part-time study, with an accumulation of not less than 30 semester hours. Research or a comparable occupational or professional experience shall be a component of each master’s degree program. The requirements for a master’s degree shall normally include at least one of the following: passing a comprehensive test, writing a thesis based on independent research or completing an appropriate special project.

To earn two master’s degrees concurrently, a student must complete the equivalent of two graduate program minimum degree requirements of 30-credit hours each for a minimum total of 60-credit hours. If one or both of the participating degree programs require more than the minimum of 30-credit hours, those additional credits may be “shared” and applied to both degrees. However, a minimum of 80 percent of the credit hour requirements of each respective degree must be fulfilled by unique non-shared courses. Further, a maximum of 12 credits from one master’s program, earned beyond the 30-credit hour minimum, may be applied in the second master’s program towards the minimum graduate degree requirement of 30-credit hours as long as the minimum 80% unique credit hour rule is met. In all cases, the total minimum required graduate credits remains 60. For graduate degree programs in which a student is concurrently enrolled, the program director or department chair of each of the two respective graduate degree programs must approve the specific courses to be shared and counted toward fulfillment of the respective degrees within the range of shareable credits allowed. Additionally, each respective master’s degree shall include at least one of the following capstone experiences: passing a comprehensive test, writing a thesis based on independent research, or completing an appropriate special project. The capstone experience credit for each master’s program is distinct and not shared.

COR 100: The Core Curriculum’s First-Year seminar, COR 100, is required of all first-year students. Transfer students who are not required to complete COR 100 will have a free elective substituted for this requirement (see also Transfer Student Policies).

Encountering Another Culture (EAC): The Core Curriculum requires 6-credits of Encountering Another Culture, which is often fulfilled via a foreign language. Students studying abroad for a full semester are eligible to receive Encountering Another Culture (EAC) credit in the Core Curriculum with the approval of the Core Director (see also Study Abroad).

Majors within the Madden School of Business
Students pursuing a major within the Madden School of Business may fulfill the EAC requirement via 6 credits of a foreign language or 6 credits of approved cultural elective credit.

Writing Instructional (WI) courses: Students must complete two WI courses at Le Moyne College as part of the Core requirements for graduation.

Reuse of Core Courses (“Double Dipping”)
Core Curriculum, Major, and Major Support courses cannot “double dip” or be shared. Exceptions include DIV and VPA courses.

Diversity (DIV) and Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) courses – can “double dip” within the Core & major.

Interdisciplinary (IDS) Courses – can “double dip” with the major, NOT the Core (with the exception of DIV & VPA courses).

A student may retake a course multiple times but credit may only be received once. All attempts towards completion of the course will be listed on the transcript and calculated into the student’s GPA. For each repeated courses, up to one failing grade (F, WF, or PF/F) for that course will be removed from the GPA calculation, provided that the repeated course is completed at Le Moyne College and it is the same as the original (same course number and title). Unlike Undergraduate students, Graduate students are only permitted to repeat one course in an attempt to receive credits toward a graduate certificate or degree.

All attempts of repeating a course must be:

  1. Registered through the Registrar’s Office;
  2. Completed at Le Moyne College; and
  3. The same as the original course number and course title.

NYS Regulation NYCCR § 50.1:
Semester hour is defined as a credit, point, or other unit granted for the satisfactory completion of a course which requires at least 15 hours (of 50 minutes each) of instruction and at least 30 hours of supplementary assignments, except as otherwise provided pursuant to § 52.2(c)(4) of this Subchapter. This basic measure shall be adjusted proportionately to translate the value of other academic calendars and formats of study in relation to the credit granted for study during the two semesters that comprise an academic year.

Students who find themselves unable to complete work for a course by the end of the regular term may request a grade of Incomplete (I) via their instructor using the Request for Incomplete Grade Form. This form is an agreement between the student and the instructor that specifies the reasons, conditions, and time limit for removing an incomplete (I) grade form the student record. Under extenuating circumstances, one extension may be approved for an additional semester (fall/spring) to resolve the incomplete. No extension can be approved beyond this. If the incomplete is not resolved by the end of the approved extension, the incomplete grade will be changed to the final grade submitted on the original Incomplete Grade Form (default grade if outstanding course requirements are not met). For more information, visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/general-information/academic/grading-policies/

An Independent Study is intended for any student wanting a program of study in a subject for which there is no existing course in the department. A student who wishes to pursue an independent study project for academic credit must submit, prior to registration, a proposed plan of study that includes the topic to be studied and goal to be achieved, the methodology to be followed, schedule of supervision, end product, evaluation procedure, and number of credits sought. The proposal must be approved by the supervising faculty member, the Department Chair, and respective Dean. Once completed with the appropriate signatures, the proposal for an Independent Study must be submitted to the Dean’s Office.

The Integral Honors Program is a community of students and faculty who share a passion for deep intellectual engagement as well as the challenges and rewards of scholarly inquiry. Students typically apply to the Integral Honors Program in the spring of their senior year of high school and enter Le Moyne as Integral Honors students in their first semester. Applications may also be submitted after matriculation by current undergraduate and transfer students. Students from all majors are welcome to become members of the Integral Honors community. Learn more about Honors programs at Le Moyne

For a list of all programs approved by NYS, visit: http://www.nysed.gov/heds/IRPSL1.html.

Many departments and programs of the College maintain affiliations with businesses, government offices, and social service agencies. For example, the Political Science department offers semester-long internships in Washington, D.C., and Albany, N.Y., which are open to all majors and allow students to integrate classroom education with appropriate learning experiences in a non-academic setting. Grades for internships are High Pass (HP), Pass (P), or Fail (F). Interested students should apply to the chair of the department in which the internship is desired.

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Students may elect to discontinue their enrollment at Le Moyne College either through a leave of absence (temporary) or withdrawal (permanent). Leave of absences may be taken for either medical or personal reasons. The total time away from the College through a leave of absence cannot exceed two consecutive semesters. For the complete Withdrawal/Leave of Absence policy, please visit: http://collegecatalog.lemoyne.edu/general-information/academic/add-drop-withdrawal/

GRADUATE STUDENTS

If a graduate student chooses to withdraw or take a leave of absence from the program, she/he must inform her/his graduate program. A student may apply for a leave of absence in accordance with the policy of his or her department. Students who are not enrolled for more than 2 consecutive semesters will be withdrawn from the College. Students enrolled in programs within the Purcell School of Graduate Studies should review policy below.

Matriculated students who have earned a grade point average of less than 3.0 are placed on academic probation. Specific probation and termination policies can be found in the policies of the specific graduate departments.

Graduate students are to exhibit at all times the behaviors that represent the practice standards and norms of ethical conduct. A student will be placed on behavioral probation for a minimum of one semester for actions inconsistent with the technical and professional standards of each discipline.

Purcell Graduate Leave of Absence/Withdrawal Policy
For personal or medical reasons, a student may voluntarily discontinue enrollment at the College by requesting either a leave of absence (temporary) or a withdrawal from the College (permanent). A leave of absence is a temporary hiatus from the College with the intent to return after a specified period of time. Students requesting a leave of absence must indicate when they plan to return to their studies. The total time away from the College cannot exceed two consecutive semesters. A student may not take matriculated coursework at another institution while on a leave of absence. To be eligible to return from a leave of absence, the student must demonstrate readiness to return by satisfying all requirements for return. If a student does not return from a leave of absence at the scheduled time, the student will be administratively withdrawn from the College and must apply for readmission. A withdrawal is a permanent separation from the College. A student who has withdrawn must apply for readmission to the College if the student wishes to re-enroll. Students withdrawing from a graduate Purcell program will be contacted by a Purcell administrator for a brief exit interview. A student may request a personal or medical leave of absence or a withdrawal by completing the Purcell Graduate Leave of Absence/Withdrawal Form available through their department. A student requesting a leave of absence or withdrawal will meet with a designated program official to discuss the academic and financial implications of their decision. The designated program official will also discuss the requirements for return if a student is taking a leave of absence. If the request for a personal or medical leave of absence/withdrawal is approved for a future semester, then the student may remain enrolled in and receive grades for the current semester. The student will have a hold on future registration until the conditions of return have been met. If the request for a personal or medical leave of absence/withdrawal is approved for a current semester, then depending on the academic calendar and personal circumstance the program director or chair can determine the most appropriate resolution for the student’s enrollment. The student may not take a leave of absence and remain enrolled in the students coursework if the leave of absence is for the current semester. The College may require a student to take a medical leave of absence or withdrawal if, in the judgment of the College, the student poses an imminent threat to the lives, safety or well-being of themself or other members of the college community (including preceptor and internship settings). Except in unusual circumstances where safety is of immediate concern, the College will make a decision to involuntarily withdraw a student only after providing the student with advance notice and an opportunity to meet with Purcell officials. In cases of both medical leaves of absence and withdrawals, the tuition refund policies specified in the Le Moyne College Catalog apply.

Eligibility
A student must have completed a minimum of 75 credit hours in order to register for a course with the Pass/Fall grading option. This option is open to both full-time and part-time students. A student may not earn more than 9 undergraduate credits with a grade of PF/P.

Registration
Students taking a class pass/fail must complete a pass/fail form and submit it to the Office of the Registrar on or before the last day to drop a course as listed on the Le Moyne College Academic Calendar. If there are spaces available, a student’s desire to make use of the pass/fail option shall not be a criterion in determining his or her eligibility for the course registration. The pass/fail grading option is a matter of the student’s choice. Students are not required to pursue this option.

Degree Requirements
Courses selected for the pass/fail option may not fulfill Core, major, or minor requirements. They may only be used as elective credit.

Grading
The student will receive grades for all work completed, including a final examination. If the grade is D or above, the professor will record the passing grade of PF/P; credit will be awarded for the course but not calculated into the GPA. If the final grade is below a D, the professor will record the failing grade of PF/F; no credit will be awarded and a grade of zero will be calculated into the student’s GPA. At no time will the grade of pass/fail be converted to a letter grade.

Le Moyne College holds its commencement ceremonies each year in May for undergraduate and graduate students. Those who graduated in the previous December or are anticipated to graduate in May or August of the given academic year, are eligible to participate in the undergraduate or graduate ceremony. Undergraduate students who are not anticipated to graduate in May or August but wish to participate in the Ceremony must complete the Permission to Walk in Commencement form, which requires the signature of the student’s Dean. Students may not participate in multiple ceremonies unless otherwise approved for extenuating circumstances by the Dean. Completion of this form or participation in Commencement does not guarantee a student’s graduation from the College. Students completing this form are encouraged to review their degree requirements with their Advisor and/or the Registrar’s Office to ensure he/she is on track to graduate.

Le Moyne College is dedicated to providing an inclusive environment for all members of our community. We recognize that many of our students use a first name other than their legal first name to identify themselves. There are instances when a student’s legal name will be used (see below) but the College is dedicated to using the preferred name for a student whenever possible.

Inappropriate use of the chosen name option, including but not limited to misrepresentation, fraud, or attempting to avoid legal obligations, may be a cause for denying the request.

Students are able to update their personal preferences for preferred pronouns, chosen names, and gender identities in Phinfo under the User Profile:

Where will my preferred pronoun and chosen name be displayed?
– Phinfo (Student, Advisor, and Faculty views)
– Canvas

Will my email address (___@lemoyne.edu) change?
A student’s email address cannot be updated without a legal name change. For more information, please contact the Service Desk for assistance (315-445-4579).

Can I receive a new ID Card?
Please contact Student Development and Campus Life (315-445-4520, 2nd floor of the Campus Center) to request a new ID care with your chosen name after it has been updated by you in Phinfo.

Where will my legal name still show?
– Billing information and notifications from the Bursar’s Office

Admission Documents
Records obtained by Le Moyne College through the undergraduate and graduate admission and application process will be retained for three years from the start of the application term, unless the student enrolls. These documents include, but are not limited to: applications, transcripts submitted for application purposes, decision letters, and deposit/matriculation forms. Documents, such as letters of recommendation, test scores, and any correspondence not relevant to the matriculation of the student will be purged after the add/drop date in the term for which the student applied. If the applied student chooses to enroll, all relevant records will then follow the Academic Records Retention Policy overseen by the Registrar’s Office.

Academic Records
The following policy refers to the retention of collegiate and student records by the Registrar’s Office at Le Moyne College. This policy is based on the recommendation of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (AACRAO). The Registrar’s Office is the official repository for academic records at Le Moyne College. All records received by Le Moyne College for an enrolled student, both electronic and paper, will be retained for a minimum of seven years after the student’s graduation or last date of attendance. The Registrar’s Office has the discretion to withhold documents for a longer period beyond the College’s records retention policy if it so chooses.

The following collegiate records are considered permanent records by Le Moyne College and are retained indefinitely by the Registrar’s Office:

  • Academic enrollment (dates of attendance, leaves of absence, withdrawals, etc.)
  • Academic records (Le Moyne College transcripts, final grades, etc.)
  • Course Catalogs
  • Change of Grade forms
  • Course offerings/schedules
  • Course rosters
  • Curriculum Documents
  • List of degree recipients
  • Enrollment Statistics
  • FERPA Release Information (Rights to Access)
  • FERPA Requests for Formal Hearings and Records of Panel Decisions
  • FERPA Directory Suppression Information
  • Graduation Letters (notifications of degree completion)

Le Moyne students are able to repeat courses in order to replace a failing grade. Upon successful completion of the course with a passing grade of D or better at Le Moyne College, the passing grade will replace the failing grade in the student’s G.P.A., attempted credits, earned credits, and degree requirements. In addition, the previous failing grade will be changed to the respective F*, PF*, or WF* and will no longer count towards credits attempted, credits completed, or G.P.A.

Repeated Course results in an F grade
If a student earns a failing grade during the first attempt at repeating a previous failing grade in the same course, the previous failing grade is changed to F* or WF* but the newly earned failing grade will calculate into the student’s attempted credits, earned credits, and G.P.A. The student then has the opportunity to repeat the course again, however, only one F*/WF* is permitted per course.  Any grades received in a course outside of the F*/WF* are calculated into the students attempted credits, calculated credits, and G.P.A.

Repeating Passed Courses
A course may be repeated in order to improve a student’s academic record when the first enrollment resulted in a passing grade. Students may not receive credit for any successive repeats of a course after a passing grade is received. The grade received from the repeated attempt of a successfully completed course is factored into the students G.P.A. but will not be calculated in the student’s attempted or completed credits.

If a student were to receive a failing grade in a repeated course where he/she has already earned a passing grade, an F*, PF*, or WF* will not, under any circumstance, be applied. Both the passing grade and the failing grade will calculate into the student’s attempted credits and G.P.A.

The Student Handbook contains many of the policies and procedures for students at Le Moyne College. In addition, this handbook contains information about Le Moyne’s history, mission and culture, as well as a number of the services and resources which are available to students.

Le Moyne College strongly encourages its students to study abroad during their tenure as a student. The coursework completed during a study abroad experience in the fall/spring semester through an approved and affiliated study abroad program with Le Moyne will be applied to the student’s degree program as grades rather than transfer credit.

Transfer credit will be applied for passing grades received through approved study abroad experiences during J-mester, May-mester, or summer sessions. Study abroad courses during these terms must be approved by the Department Chair via the Transfer Course Approval for Core Courses form or the Transfer Course Approval for Major, Major Support, and Elective Courses form.

Students are required to submit a completed Study Abroad Approval form outlining the courses the student intends to take while abroad and the degree requirements the course(s) will fulfill upon returning.

Students studying abroad for a full semester are eligible to receive Encountering Another Culture (EAC) credit in the Core Curriculum. Please see the Core Director for approval

See also Core Curriculum Policies.

Transfer Student Policies
The acceptance or denial of transfer credit is not determined exclusively on the basis of the accreditation of the sending institution or the mode of delivery, but, rather, will consider course equivalencies, including expected learning outcomes, with those of the receiving institution’s curricula and standards (Characteristics of Excellence, Standard 11, MSCHE). Transfer credit will only be awarded to courses from regionally accredited institutions of higher learning with coursework satisfactorily completed (grade of C- or above).

Transfer students are waived from the COR 100 (First-Year seminar) requirement in the Core Curriculum. An eligible free elective of one credit hour or more will replace this requirement (see Core Curriculum policies).

Transfer Credit Evaluations
Transfer of credit is based on a course-by-course evaluation with the primary consideration being equivalency in description to courses offered at Le Moyne. Le Moyne will accept transfer credit only for coursework satisfactorily completed (grade of C- or above) at regionally accredited institutions.

Transfer Credit Limitations
Courses taken in technical areas, remedial courses, internships, field experiences, physical education and health courses, courses in which grades of “D” were earned, and courses taken pass/fail will not transfer to Le Moyne. Courses which are more elementary than Le Moyne’s introductory level are not accepted for transfer.

A maximum of 60 credit hours may be accepted from a two-year college and a maximum of 90 credit hours may be accepted from a four-year college. It is, however, very unlikely that 90 credits will apply to the Le Moyne programs since half of the courses listed as “major requirements” in the Le Moyne catalog must be completed at Le Moyne.

Although Le Moyne College requires a grade of C- or better in order to be considered for transfer credit, only the course credit will only be transferred into Le Moyne College and not the grade earned. Transfer credit is not calculated into a student’s grade point average (GPA).

International Transfer Credit
Students transferring credits from an accredited International College or University must submit a translated World Education Services (WES) transcript and evaluation in order for the student’s credits to be reviewed and considered for Le Moyne College credit.

Advanced Placement (AP)/International Baccalaureate (IB)/College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

  • AP Credit
    • Le Moyne College supports  Advanced Placement (AP) programs of the College Entrance Examination Board and acknowledges the accomplishments of those students who, through high scores on AP examinations, have demonstrated special academic achievement during high school. Le Moyne College accepts a wide variety of Advanced Placement (AP) credit with a minimum score of “3” on the AP exam. Some exams may require a score of “4” or “5” in order to receive transfer credit for specific courses. For a complete list of AP course equivalencies, please visit the Registrar’s Office website.
  • CLEP Exams
    • Le Moyne College grants academic credit for some subject examinations of CLEP to students who attain a score in at least the 50th percentile on the multiple choice test. The optional essay for some exams may be required in order to receive Le Moyne College transfer credit. Please visit the Registrar’s Office website for more information and CLEP exam equivalencies.
  • IB (International Baccalaureate) Exams
    • Matriculated students seeking credit for IB courses completed during high school must have official score reports sent to Le Moyne College Registrar’s Office. IB credits are reviewed on an individual basis and determined by the score received on the exam as well as the diploma earned. To view a list of acceptable IB courses as well as the levels and diplomas required, please visit the Registrar’s Office website.

Graduate-Level Transfer Credit
Graduate students may transfer a maximum of 9-credits of graduate courses completed at other regionally accredited institutions. Please consult with your graduate department regarding this policy since some departments may allow less than the institution maximum.

Undergraduate courses cannot be transferred into a graduate-level program.

Undergraduate students may register for graduate courses provided they meet the following requirements:

  • 3.0+ Cumulative GPA;
  • Senior-level standing;
  • Registration for the graduate course is within the final year of study before completing a Bachelor’s degree program;
  • The undergraduate student has met the pre-requisites of the graduate-level course; and
  • Permission from the Graduate department.

Registration for graduate credits as an undergraduate student is limited to two graduate-level courses. Students may not be registered for more than 16 credits total in a semester when taking both undergraduate and graduate credits.

Students may use a maximum of 6 credits of graduate-level courses towards the completion of an undergraduate degree. The Registrar’s Office will verify these requirements after a request to enroll in graduate courses is made with the graduate department. Please visit the department for which you would like to enroll in graduate courses in order to submit your request and necessary paperwork. Exceptions to this policy include those enrolled in undergraduate/graduate degree programs, such as the 5-year BS & MBA Program, the 5-year BA & MST Program, etc.

Undergraduate courses, with no exception, may not be used for graduate credit.
