Le Moyne Moves Up to #12, Its Highest-Ever Spot in U.S. News Rankings; #2 in Best Value and #13 Small Business School in Nation
In rankings released this morning, Le Moyne College was ranked #12 overall and #2 in best value by U.S. News & World Report in the Regional Universities North Best Colleges category, while three disciplines in the Madden College of Business and Economics were ranked among the top programs in the nation. Moving up five spots in the overall ranking, Le Moyne attained its highest-ever position in the annual rankings.
“Our rise in the rankings is a testament to the high-touch, high-quality experience that Le Moyne provides for its students and for the excellent education they receive here,” said Le Moyne President Linda LeMura. “This year’s rankings solidifies Le Moyne as the highest ranked, best value institution in both New York state and the Northeast.”
On the national level, the Madden College of Business and Economics was ranked #248 by U.S. News in overall business school rankings, placing Le Moyne in the top 10 percent of all business schools in the nation. Among the nation’s approximately 800 small business schools (defined as less than 3,000 students) Le Moyne was ranked #13. Madden College was also ranked nationally in three specific undergraduate disciplines:
- Analytics – ranked #22 and #2 in New York state
- Marketing – ranked #23 and #3 in New York state
- Accounting – ranked #48 and #3 in New York state
Le Moyne was included on several other lists compiled by the publication (All of these rankings are within the “Regional Universities North” classification.):
#2 in the “Best Value Schools” ranking. This calculation takes into account a school’s academic quality, based on its U.S. News Best College ranking, and the 2023-24 net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid; the higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal.
#44 in the “Social Mobility” category. This ranking assessed how well schools graduated economically disadvantaged students. were computed by aggregating two to four ranking factors assessing graduation rates of Pell-awarded students.
#19 in the “Strong Commitment to Undergraduate Teaching” ranking. This ranking is developed from a survey conducted among administrators at universities and colleges about peer institutions within their regions, with schools needing more than seven votes to appear in the ranking.
#4 in the “Best Universities for Veterans” ranking. To be on this list, colleges must have 20 or more students using GI Bill benefits and also be certified for the GI Bill and participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Colleges are ranked based on a variety of factors, including graduation rates, social mobility, faculty and financial resources, and peer assessment. This is the 33rd consecutive year that the College has been ranked in U.S. News rankings.
The publication designates schools in four major categories – national universities, national liberal arts colleges, regional universities and regional colleges. Le Moyne and other institutions in the Regional Universities category provide a full range of undergraduate majors and master’s programs.
