As former chair of the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Canisius College and current associate dean of the School for Graduate Studies at SUNY Empire State, Angelini has a record of administrative achievement and support for faculty pedagogy and research. The national search produced a competitive pool of well-qualified candidates. Chaired by Theresa Beaty, Ph.D. (chemistry), the search committee was comprised of Godriver Odhiambo, Ph.D. (history), Charles Oduke, Ph.D. (vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion), Frank Ridzi, Ph.D. (anthropology, criminology and sociology), Dan Roche, Ph.D. (communication and film studies), Susan Scharoun, Ph.D. (psychology), and Trijya Singh, Ph.D. (mathematics and statistics).
Jim Hannan, provost and vice president for academic affairs, thanked the search committee and the many members of the College community who provided valuable feedback throughout the search process. “I’m very happy that Eileen will be joining us and look forward to working with her to improve student, staff, and faculty outcomes in arts and sciences and the campus more broadly. Eileen’s experience securing grant funding and her commitment to research, pedagogy, and the development of new programs aligns well with the proposed priorities of the new strategic plan, which call for increased support for faculty scholarship and pedagogy as well as strategic development of new academic programs. Eileen’s experience at Canisius College and her career-long commitment to the humanities prepare her well for the value and mission of the Le Moyne Jesuit, liberal arts education provided by all arts and sciences departments. Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Eileen as she prepares to join the campus community this summer.”
