Providing Mentoring & Support

At Le Moyne, we don’t just say Greatness meets Goodness – we live it every single day. We prepare you to do the same. Our Career Conversations program is our mentoring program that connects you with caring professionals who share the experience that will aid your growth and development. From these connections, you will gain practical knowledge, encouragement and support.  You will learn from the experiences of others, and become empowered to make decisions that will positively impact the lives you will lead beyond The Heights.

Students: Discover the Power of Conversation

Being a student at Le Moyne means thinking forward; becoming yourself; putting your values into action; and embracing a life of meaning and success. It can feel pretty overwhelming to be sure. But as a Dolphin, you never have to do any of these things alone. We’ll help you grow into the person you are meant to be, you will have the tools to start building your network and have important conversations related to your career field of interest. You will be connected to a professional from our network who works in the field of your interest (or close to it).  They are ready and excited to answer your questions, helping you prepare for your future career. Talking to people makes a difference, and Career Conversations helps you find your way.

Career Conversations Program Overview

You will be expected to meet one time for a 30 minute meeting during the semester. Meetings can be done in-person, by phone, or virtually. Some students and mentors may decide to continue their networking relationship, which we love to hear, but is not a part of this program.

The program is designed for Juniors at Le Moyne College. First-Year, Sophomore, and Seniors will be considered if there is capacity.

Recruiting for Career Conversations begins in October. Career Advising & Development will share this opportunity via Handshake, flyers, and more. If you have questions about signing up, please email careerconversations@lemoyne.edu.

Having a mentor creates an incredible experience for so many reasons. You are connected to someone in your prospective field who went through all the steps you’re currently going through and they are able to guide you to reach your goal. Another reason this program is great is because it introduces you to someone who is a resource for your field even after you graduate from Le Moyne. My mentor has made it clear I can call him at any time with questions or concerns, and also made me aware that we will have a lifelong connection.  The Le Moyne Mentor Program has made me feel more confident about myself and my future. By being mentored by an amazing lawyer I have had the opportunity to learn more about my prospective field and also have someone rooting for me as I go.”

Especially for Our Professional Volunteers

There is no greater gift than helping others maximize their potential. By participating in Career Conversations, you will help our students discover who they are, where their talents lie, and how their talents can be put to effective and meaningful use.

At Le Moyne, we are committed to connecting our students to caring guides who can share their experiences, impart wisdom, and motivate students to achieve their highest potential. You can share knowledge that shows that college is much more than what happens within the four walls of a classroom. It’s also about the relationships you build, the values you live by, and the mark you leave on a community.

Interested in Getting Involved?

Sharing your knowledge and expertise with our students is a valuable way to stay connected with the College community while also making a difference for a new generation of Dolphins. The Career Conversations program provides a way for you to help students connect the classroom experience to a greater understanding of the world and potential career paths. These conversations offer a great opportunity to bring people together, to learn from each other, to network, to grow professionally and personally, and to develop necessary professional skills.

You will be matched based on shared career interests listed on applications and information forms. In some cases, when exact interests cannot be matched, we will match you based on similar interests. We pay great care to matching students and professionals in their chosen fields. Putting as much information as possible in the application form helps to ensure that we can make the best matches possible.

Matches are made starting in October and rolling throughout April. You will be notified by email when you are matched with a student. Students are responsible for reaching out to coordinate their conversation with you. Their communication and initial contact are part of their learning how to connect with the professional arena.

Absolutely! On your Career Conversation application, you can indicate how many students you are willing to have a conversation with and we will match you with students accordingly.

I treasure being able to make connections and share the connections that I already have with a current Le Moyne student, and I look forward to participating in the program again. Le Moyne was such a special place for me as a student, and being able to contribute to the community after I have graduated is such a wonderful way to say thank you to the place and the people that helped shape me into the person I am.”
