Transferring Credit
Will My Credits Transfer?
Wondering if your credit will transfer to Le Moyne? We’ve prepared this guide to help you get started.
We make every effort to transfer credits to your best educational advantage, provided that the previous coursework applies to the Le Moyne degree program.
- Courses that are comparable to Le Moyne courses generally transfer.
- Transfer credit is considered based on course equivalencies, including expected learning outcomes, with Le Moyne’s curricula and standards. Transfer credit will be awarded to courses from most regionally accredited institutions of higher learning. Transfer credit will not be awarded to courses from institutions of higher learning that are not regionally accredited.
- In general, a “C-” is the minimum grade required to transfer a course.
- Courses taken in technical areas, remedial courses, internships, field experiences, physical education and health courses, in which grades of “D” were earned and courses taken pass/fail will not transfer to Le Moyne. Courses which are more elementary than Le Moyne’s introductory level are not accepted for transfer.
- A maximum of 60 credit hours may be accepted from a regionally accredited two-year college, and a maximum of 90 credit hours may be accepted from a regionally accredited four-year college.
- You must successfully complete the last 30 credit hours at Le Moyne, 50% of the courses listed as “major requirements” in the College Catalog must be completed at Le Moyne. In addition, at least 6 core courses, including COR 400, must be taken at Le Moyne. One core course must also be writing instructional. Students who have completed 60 credit hours at Le Moyne are eligible for degree honors at graduation.
- Matriculated students wishing to take courses elsewhere in order to transfer the credits back to Le Moyne must complete a Transfer Course Approval form, and submit it to the Registrar’s Office. Approvals may not be granted if the course is available at Le Moyne during the requested session. The approval guarantees that the credit will transfer back to Le Moyne, provided the grade earned in the course is a ‘C-‘ or better. Students are advised to secure approval before they register for such courses. Please be aware that the credit transfers but the grade does not affect your grade point average.
