Le Moyne College Hosts Talk on Catholic Education and the Poor

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Le Moyne College will host a talk by Jack Podsiadlo, S.J., on “Catholic Education and the Poor” on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m. The talk will take place in the Panasci Family Chapel.

Father Podsiadlo is president of New York Nativity, a network of the three Jesuit sponsored middle schools in New York City serving children from low income families and dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

Father Podsiadlo’s experience with and commitment to Nativity schools is unparalleled. For nearly 20 years, he served at Nativity Mission Center in a variety of roles including teacher, counselor, principal and executive director. In 2001, Fr. Podsiadlo founded the Nativity Educational Network, an organization conceived to encourage and support the work and development of Nativity schools throughout the United States. He served as the Nativity Network’s executive director for five years and then worked to merge the Nativity and San Miguel Networks. He served as the director of special programs for the new network during its first year. The NativityMiguel Network has as its mission the support of the 64 Nativity-model schools throughout the United States and the development of new Nativity schools. More information about the network is available at www.nativitymiguelschools.org/.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Sanzone Center for Catholic Studies and Theological Reflection. For more information, call (315) 445-5462.
