Scholarships Available for Le Moyne Summer Institute for Teachers

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … Thanks to a generous grant from the New York State Education Department, Le Moyne College is able to offer full tuition scholarships to its Summer Institute for Teachers.

Sessions being offered include:

Science Institute: EDG 794
July 28 – August 1 or August 18 - 22

General Science for Elementary and Middle School Teachers: Adirondack Adventure
An intensive study of the natural history of the largest state park in the U.S., the Adirondacks. Bulk of the course consists of three days of firsthand field experiences. Designed for teachers who wish to heighten their awareness about the “pulse” of the earth as it relates to a fantastic natural area in their own backyard – the Adirondacks! Lodging and transportation are included.

Math Institute: EDG 797
August 4 – 8

Selected Topics in Mathematics Teaching
The topics – algebra, geometry, problem solving, probability and statistics, teaching methods and information technology – reflect the ascendancy of certain content standards and note the importance of the process standard of problem solving. In addition, the use of technology in the classroom to engage students will be an important part of the program. There will be a strong emphasis on understanding, logical reasoning and application.

There is a $100 course fee for each session.
