Le Moyne College Presents "An Ideal Husband" by Oscar Wilde
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (For Immediate Release) … The Boot and Buskin Theatre Group of Le Moyne College will present “An Ideal Husband” by Oscar Wilde on October 24, 25, 30, 31 and November 1. All performances will start at 8 p.m. at the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts.
At the heart of this “social” comedy are Sir Robert and Lady Chiltern, a respected couple whose rise in political and social power, and indeed their marriage, are threatened by an incriminating letter exposing an early moral failure by Sir Robert. The letter is in the hands of Mrs. Cheveley, who first uses it for blackmail, then divulges its secret to Lady Chiltern to cast suspicion on her husband´s virtuous character. As both husband and wife seek the counsel of Chiltern´s wise friend Viscount Goring, audience and characters alike must ask: How much should a person be judged by the mistakes of his past? This tale of love and revenge, though over a hundred years old, contains themes as relevant today as ever.
The Le Moyne College production of “An Ideal Husband” will be under the direction of Steven Braddock. Scenery and lights will be designed by Karel Blakeley.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $4 for students and the Le Moyne community. For additional information and ticket reservations, please call the W. Carroll Coyne Center for the Performing Arts at (315) 445-4523.
