Conscious Leadership and Culturally Competent Healthcare

Every person is on his or her own journey when it comes to health. Since its founding in the 1930s at the height of the Great Depression, Emblem Health has sought to make that trek a little smoother. Along the way the company has earned a reputation as a leader in its field. Emblem provides primary and specialty care, wellness solutions, and insurance to 3.2 million members, making it one of the largest nonprofit health insurance providers in the nation. At the helm of this organization are dynamic, forward-thinking servant leaders like Donna Hughes. As Emblem’s Chief People Officer, Hughes helped to build a talented, diverse team whose members are empowered to bring a wealth of experiences, backgrounds and cultures to the company’s strategic decision-making process. She will share how she is creating an environment in which empathy, awareness and responsible corporate citizenship are not the biproducts of an organization’s success, but central components to it.

This event is presented by the McNeil Academy and Diversity Central. Additional sponsors include: the Madden School of Business, the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Purcell School of Graduate and Professional Studies at Le Moyne College.
