    Faculty Research Spotlight: Dr. Furkan Oztanriseven

    Dr. Furkan Oztanriseven’s, better known as Oz, contributions to the advancement of knowledge lie in the areas of modeling and simulation in logistics, maritime transportation, and homeland security; Oz has recently begun a new research thread in financial analytics, continuing his work in economic decision analysis. Dr. Oztanriseven uses a mixture of basic and applied research, as he develops fundamental operations research models and simulation approaches that examine variables and propose new analytics methods that address novel and persistent challenges in model building and analysis.

    Oz’s scholarly work has been recognized in several different ways. First, for the past several years, his research has been supported by the U.S. Department of Transportation Center of Excellence through the Maritime Transportation Research and Education (MARTREC) Center at the University of Arkansas, which is a U.S. Department of Transportation Tier 1 University Transportation Center that focuses on problems and solutions relating to efficient, resilient, and sustainable maritime and multimodal logistics and infrastructure. Second, due to the importance of his research, it has been funded by prestigious organizations such as the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, the National University Transportation Center, the Missouri University of Science and Technology, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (through the National Transportation Security Center of Excellence), and the U.S. Department of Transportation.

     

    About Dr. Furkan Oztanriseven
    Oz is an assistant professor of business analytics. He has been teaching at Le Moyne College since fall 2016. He completed his PhD in industrial engineering at the University of Arkansas in summer 2016. He received master’s degrees in business administration and industrial and systems engineering from Colorado State University-Pueblo in spring 2011. Oz has taught business analytics, supply chain management, cases in business analytics, strategic management analysis, simulation and risk analysis, and industrial economic analysis.
